Project Description

Volunteer at SafeNest

Volunteers are the backbone of our success, providing a vital link between SafeNest and our community. Our volunteers give support to every aspect of our mission to end domestic violence one client at a time. For more information about volunteering with SafeNest, call 702-821-2736, email volunteer@safenest.org or attend an upcoming Volunteer Orientation.

Special Events Volunteer

We need help all the time. Sometimes with staffing information booths and distributing information on domestic violence for SafeNest at community fairs and events. Check out what opportunities are coming up that you can volunteer for.

Can I earn volunteer hours towards school requirements?

If you are under the age of 18 or have not completed the required 43-hours of training, then you may not become a part of our volunteer program. We hold our advocacy trainings twice a year in January and September. Since this must be completed before becoming part of our volunteer program, sometimes the timing does not work out well for students that need to fulfill those hours quickly.  However, if you do a drive of some sort then we will be more than happy to document those hours for you.

For more information on volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Director at 702-877-2736 or volunteer@safenest.org.

I am completing my Eagle Scout Badge, may I help SafeNest?

Absolutely!  We welcome any type of drive towards specific shelter needs.  This can include something as simple as a sock drive, pajama drive, diaper drive, or anything else we can think of!  Due to limited storage space, we ask that you contact us before you get started so we can point you in the right direction.

For more information on volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Director at 702-877-2736 or volunteer@safenest.org.

Can I perform Court-ordered community service or satisfy community service requirements for a division of welfare programs at SafeNest?

Yes, and you do not need to attend our 43-hour training.  Due to the sensitive nature of our agency, any court-ordered community service may be completed at the SafeNest Donation Center.

For more information on volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Director at 702-877-2736 or volunteer@safenest.org.

How many volunteer hours do I need to commit to on a monthly basis?

Most of our volunteers dedicate 4 hours per week to their positions.  If you still have questions don’t hesitate to reach out to our Volunteer Director at 702-877-2736.

Do you have projects for groups that would like to do a community project?

Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of our clients, we do not allow groups on-site at our shelter.  However, we have a land clean-up opportunity and you are more than welcome to do a drive for specific needs for shelter.  Storage space is limited so we ask that you contact us prior to getting started.  Contact our Volunteer Director at 702-877-2736 or volunteer@safenest.org if you have further questions. (see e-mail)

Do I still need to complete the 43-hour training if I only want to volunteer at events?

Many times, if you are volunteer at a SafeNest event, you will most likely have someone disclose to you that they are a victim of domestic violence, or they may have questions.  The 43-hour training is to give you the knowledge and confidence to answer any question about domestic violence and to help individuals who may feel comfortable talking about their situation.
