Hoover Dam was illuminated in purple Monday night to promote domestic violence awareness.

In an event spearheaded by Safenest, Nevada’s largest domestic violence nonprofit, the dam was lit using purple gels on the baselights.

The display was meant to honor thousands of survivors, victims and families who have been affected this epidemic as Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to an end.

As National Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to an end, one of America’s most iconic landmarks was glowing purple to honor the thousands of survivors, victims and families who have been affected by domestic violence.

The HOOVER DAM was transformed into an exceptional display on the evening of October 29th, thanks to the approval of the Bureau of Reclamation. Spearheaded by SafeNest, Nevada’s largest domestic violence nonprofit, organizations across the state united for this unique show of strength.

On Monday, Oct. 29, the iconic Hoover Dam will light up in purple to increase public awareness of the victims of crime and domestic violence.
